China’s Spies in U.S. Universities
Frontpage Magazine ^ | August 7, 2019 | John Glynn

In May of this year, in a commentary titled “United States, don’t underestimate China’s ability to strike back,” Wu Yuehe, a journalist at the People’s Daily, had this to say:

"We advise the U.S. side not to underestimate the Chinese side’s ability to safeguard its development rights and interests. Don’t say we didn’t warn you!"

A few weeks later, two Chinese professors at Emory university lost their jobs. Li Xiaojiang and Li Shishua, who were conducting research in the field of genetics, failed to disclose grants they received from nebulous institutions in China.

Two questions:

[1] Why were two scientists employed by an American university receiving grants from China?

[2] Why were the pair so reluctant to disclose the grants?

The answers to both questions are as simple as they are worrying. FBI Director Christopher Wray recently told senators that China is engaging in a concerted effort to steal its way to economic dominance. As I write, there are more than 1,000 investigations underway on intellectual property theft. Every single one of these investigations leads back to China.

The Chinese have been engaged in this sort of nefarious activity for years, and American institutes of education appear to be their prime focus. In August 2015, an electrical engineering student based in Chicago sent an email to a Chinese national titled "Midterm test questions." Two years later, the email was the subject of an FBI probe in the Southern District of Ohio. Law enforcement agents suspected the student was actually a plant, an intelligence officer who was sent to the United States for one reason only: to acquire technical information and share it with defense contractors in China.

And yet we continue to give Graduate Teaching and Research Assistantships to Chinese students, essentially funding their education...and spying.

I’ve told the story I heard before. An acquaintance told me two young Chinese full time tech employees were confronted at the office by FBI agents who handcuffed them and took them away, never to return. The agents asked the other office workers “Please do not discuss the details of this for the good of our country.”

Daily info transfer, intellectual property theft, and especially the passwords from interplay between entities is common.

Example: My university library’s highest tech expert and system troubleshooter told me they had hundreds of Russian and Chinese intrusion attempts stopped by security every day. “And we don’t even do any defense work or invention of anything.” It was so our contacts with the companies and other universities that DID do that work would have their passwords and other security we used stolen.

In 1989 I was a grad student at Southern Miss. I taught classes and was also the gopher for a prof.

He asked me to visit all 9 computer kiosks and find out several things but mainly to see if they allowed all students to use the computers.

It turned out that all did but what caught my attention was that all 9 were being run by Pakistani students. I finally asked one if they had a tunnel. He laughed.

Probably no harm but it did make you wonder.

In the meantime, Chris Wray is in his office playing with himself! One thousand “investigations,” but no one is being prosecuted! This effing government, and Trump needs to get the message, doesn't do $hit when it comes to protecting our country from China. Everything is moving so slowly, that Trump will be out of office in five or six years and they will still be flogging these “investigations.” “Investigator" is just another name for a government job that accomplishes nothing, pays handsomely, and never ends.

If they can just learn all 64 preferred pronouns, and not to say “American,” they are ready to return to China.

What rules govern disclosure of grants? I’m assuming these were not ordinary research grants. If so, a lot of people at the university would know about them, and the professors would be getting a fairly small fraction of the money.

The only rule that counts is the Left’s desire to hide evidence in their role in destroying America.

HR1044 will open up even more places to Communist Chinese and Indians to American jobs and in universities. Democrats and RINOs won’t stop until the middle-class here is all but extinct.
