Here's a dirty secret: according to Bureau of Labor Statistics figures, maintenance and installation jobs are ridiculously skewed towards men, like 97% across the board. I'm talking construction, HVAC techs, mechanics, utility workers, etc. If men disappeared all of our infrastructure would grind to a halt really quickly.
But hey, let's pretend that it's just as likely a woman will be going down into the underground through a manhole. Sure, why not? It's empowering to pretend.
