I’ve followed social media since BBS days. Such sites have a finite life cycle. Unstoppable juggernauts disappear almost overnight, forgotten, replaced by the next new sites. Facebook, Twitter, etc are not exempt.

Excellent point. True. The pressure to join My Space in 2005 was much higher than the pressure to join Facebook in 2010. Facebook is the new Yellow Pages.
