That is a perfect example of the original "fake news". The left would float a fake story that was very negative to themselves. Sites from the right would get all excited and run with it. Then when the facts came out the left would use them to discredit the the sites that ran with the original fake story. It was a planned method of attack.
Yes. I think I actually got caught up in one of those many years ago. It taught me well and hard.
