That is the high school. Presumably it served the whole town and thus included large numbers of both races. At that time, the elementary schools which served smaller areas may still have been predominantly one race or the other.

We know that busing for racial integration started in Berkeley in 1968. It's not hard to find articles about that online. But, heck, another myth is born and now it won't ever go away.

There seems to be a discrepancy in claims. Harris claims that her class was 2nd for busing but GP only talks about when the Berkley schools were integrated. Significant difference.
