Statistically, we almost certainly have had a homosexual president? Really?

I believe President James Buchanan was a bachelor. So was he homosexual?

Any others married to women who were “beards” for them? What is this guy really saying?

Buchanan was the only one where the rumors might have some merit.

This was insinuated in my Civil War history class from 1978, James I Robertson was the prof. No slouch on the Civil War, and certainly no flaming liberal (At least it didn’t seem so!). Though probably an old style Southern Democrat.

If we had a gay president, it was James Buchanan. But whether he was actively homosexual, we'll never know.

Those were different, less sexualized times, and people could live their whole lives not being aware of things that kids learn about in junior high nowadays.

There were rumors about JFK and Lem Billings, but there are always rumors. Whatever JFK did, he was far from homosexual at heart.
