President Trump speaks at 75th D-Day anniversary ceremony in Normandy, France
You are the greatest among us that will ever live, you are the pride of our nation, you are the glory of our republic and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts, says President Trump thanking WWII veterans.
President Trumps speech on Thursday honoring the brave Allied fighters who "stood in the fires of hell" on the 75th anniversary of D-Day drew unexpected acclaim from two of his biggest mainstream media critics: CNNs Jim Acosta and MSNBCs Joe Scarborough.
This is perhaps the most on-message moment of Donald Trumps presidency today. We were all wondering if he would veer from his remarks, go off of his script but he stayed on script, stayed on message and, I think, rose to the moment, Acosta said on CNN immediately following the speech.
The CNN White House reporter is often combative with Trump and members of his administration but praised Trumps remark that the men who stormed the beach are among the greatest Americans who have ever lived.
That could not be more of a fact check true, Acosta said. It was really one of those moments that Donald Trump needed to rise to in order to, I think, walk away from the cemetery, walk away from this hallowed ground and have people back at home saying, You know what, no matter what I think about the current president of the United States, he said the right thing at Normandy. He did the right thing at Normandy.

The ratings hit is having an impact.
I would much rather have Acosta hate the speech.
His praise makes me want to puke.
Those pompous clowns seriously believe their opinions matter.
Meanwhile...check out this bizarre headline over at USA Today...
European allies made the D-Day landing at Normandy possible. 75 years later, Trump questions those bonds

Surprised he did not call out D-Day as the greatest example of collusion with the Russians. They demanded FDR open a western front and he complied.
lol
Yeah, I think we were questioning bonds with the USSR a lot sooner than 75 years later. And our relationship with China changed as well. ;)
These hacks don’t understand international politics very well. There is no such thing as “friends” between nations. What there is, is “alliances”. And those can change. The only country a country’s leader is hired to defend and protect is his own. He helps other countries when it is in HIS country’s best interests.
Period.
He quoted FDR. That’s like making an offering to one of their pantheon.
It’s the “made it possible” line that is most jarring.
As if the US wanted to land in Normandy for its own purposes and they were doing us a favor - when it was to save their sorry arses
That’s how you know that a US war on Iran is a LOCK.
Now that the left LIKES war, they don’t constantly screech against wars.
Don’t worry. By tomorrow Acosta will be back on his anti-Trump hate rant.
Faint praise indeed. It amounts to Costa saying Trump didn’t blow it.
I wonder if a shareholder revolt is behind this because being “woke” is bad for the bottom line.
"We expected him to go off topic and screw-up but..."
These two are still the enemies of the people. They will be back on script tomorrow.
If Acosta did this, Ben Gleck must be seriously sucking up.
It was a great speech and I don’t remember hearing the word “I” at all.
bttt
One of the reasons why President Trump was delayed, one of the reasons he was late getting here, he was sitting down with a Fox News personality before his speech began. So its possible he was dishing out a lot of the red meat while he was sitting down with Fox before giving the speech.
*Snort*
Right, no friends among nations. Only shared mutual interests.
