The people in charge of the breaking would be the same people benefitting from Google's data collection, so any such action would simply be cosmetic.

The only good fix is for the public to come to regard anything with a Google logo as a mask for a hacker trying to steal their personal information. But that will take time.

click on their search result ads and don’t buy anything... tell the company you did it to that you did it. companies will stop advertising. problem solved.

Yes, FB and Twitter are completely opt-in services.

Google doesn’t need to be broken, but any of its patents the effectively deny “usage” to a large segment of the population must be challenged.
