Robert Mueller’s ‘final statement’ was a disgraceful mess
NY Post ^ | May 29, 2019 | John Podhoretz

Special prosecutor Mueller’s statement upon the shuttering of his two-year investigation into the Trump campaign was weird even by the standards of the weirdness of the past couple of years. “Charging the president with a crime was not something we could consider,” he reported. Indeed, even pursuing that question, he added, would have been unconstitutional under long-standing Justice Department guidelines.

But then he said that if his office could have exonerated the president, it would have: “If we had confidence the president clearly did not commit a crime, we would have said so.”

Granted, he said pretty much the same thing in the report he produced: “If we had confidence after a thorough investigation of the facts that the president clearly did not commit obstruction of justice, we would so state.”

His statement was only 8 minutes long. The report is 400 pages long. It matters what he chose to repeat from it and what he did not. He wanted the American people to hear him speak those words. He wanted to emphasize this point.

The “I couldn’t exonerate him” point is discomfiting for another reason, which is: Since when do prosecutors exonerate people? That isn’t a prosecutor’s job. Maybe in the aftermath of a wrongful conviction, with irrefutable physical evidence, prosecutors will say something exculpatory. But even in most of these cases, they usually drop charges on grounds of insufficient evidence, not positive proof of innocence.

The obvious rejoinder here is that the president of the United States isn’t just any person and that it is bad for our government and our country for a dark cloud to hang over the president’s head. Therefore,dissipating that cloud would be a good thing (even if such a purpose was not in any way Mueller’s charge when he was hired in 2017).

Perhaps the Arkancide Squad got to him, and told him “play ball or get fosterized”.

“I can’t not not indict him, because i can’t disprove that Trump did not not commit crimes that we didn’t not know about”

Compare that to Comey’s bogus: “No prosecutor would take this case,” and you realize what a sham the whole thing is.

Mueller does not want to give testimony into his investigation. That is his motivation, above all else, he wants to leave a mess but does not want to have his actions questioned.

The DOJ is not, and never has been, in the exoneration business of anyone, anywhere. The purpose of investigations is to gather evidence so a warrant for an arrest and conviction can move forward.

There was no evidence. Innocent until there is PROOF of guilt.

Basically a compromised, corrupt man who is himself running scared (Mueller) is the moral voice for the corrupted Deep State actors and America is to believe him?

Under our system of law, you don’t have to prove that you DIDN’T commit a crime. The purpose of a Special Counsel investigation is to determine if there is sufficient evidence to overcome the default presumption of innocence.

A legitimate special counsel report would never say what Mueller’s report says – and what he himself repeated. The counsel would not seek assurance that the accused did NOT commit a crime; that is presumed. The counsel therefore also would not “say so.”

The entirety of Volume 2, which contains this statement, bears no resemblance at all to a true Special Counsel Report. I think that the American people are entitled to a refund of at least 50% of the $38 million dollars WE paid for this garbage.

Mueller’s boss has already said that he doesn’t understand Mueller’s reasoning nor why he kept going as long as he did. (Of course, we know both: mid-terms.)

This whole thing has grown so incredibly stupid and now the opposition has pushed all in, because he repeated what he wrote in the report...

The greatness of our legal system and the whole reason we are innocent until proven guilty is because you can’t prove a negative!

As proof he is corrupt and still trying to mislead people...
I give you a prosecutor who knows better, repeating “I could not exonerate him”

Progressivism has politicized the Dems and the Justice Dept like the Nazis politicized their police and army.

Mueller smeared Barr as a liar on his way out the door. This is the beginning of a new phase of the Mueller Coup and not the end. Guaranteed.

Exactly, Mueller is corrupt, thank goodness there was no evidence to be found. Case closed, no collusion and no obstruction. Let the House move to impeach, we without evidence it will cripple them politically.

If anyone ever had any doubt about Mueller’s ethics, his actions today screamed loud and clear that he’s a low-down filthy scumbag.

Mueller does not want to give testimony into his investigation

Graham should compel him to testify, Nadler will take his tacit walking orders and drop his insistence that he testify before the House.

Just like Comey, neither of these "press conferences' should have been allowed by their bosses at the DOJ.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It’s not a good idea to insult a guy like Barr who doesn’t need another job and has a lifetime of injustices piled up that he wants to clear up.
Hopefully Barr realizes that Mueller isn’t his buddy and burns the lying sack of Obama.
