Exit polls Sunday indicate Swiss voters will likely adopt tighter gun measures more aligned with the European Union by a comfortable margin.

Swiss citizens voted Sunday in a referendum that included laws entailing serial-numbering of some gun parts, training requirements and waivers to possess certain semi-automatic weapons. The referendum could also impact Switzerland’s standing in the visa-free Schengen travel zone, according to USA Today.

This comment is very telling:

““If you weigh the security you get on the one hand and the small restrictions on the other, one should vote ‘yes,’” Daniel Jositsch, a member of parliament’s upper house for the Social Democrats, told Bloomberg.”

Social demorats. As expected.

“This vote is just a step, and the next step will be the full prohibition of weapons,” 51-year-old accountant Olivier Curty, an opponent of the proposal, told Reuters. “This is what I can see coming, and even we shooters soon won’t be able to keep our weapons at home.”

Yep.

In five years to be exact.

Because this " referendum" is reviewed by the eu is every five years.

2024 - can't have them in the house.

2029 - can't have them in the house.

Exit polls

You mean like the ones in Nov 2016 in the US and the ones in Australia?

As more country’s in the EU vote away their freedom and liberty and embrace greater Government control, it is time we rethink the amount of manpower and dollars that we handout to them to protect those people and their country’s! If you will vote away your liberty why should Americans stand ready to fight to protect you?

re: “Exit polls Sunday indicate Swiss voters will likely adopt tighter gun measures”

Polls?

You mean like the exit polls that showed John Kerry would win?

The pools that showed the Green Agenda in Australia was winning?

Those polls?

No doubt. But I don’t think Switzerland is an EU country and I believe they control their own immigration laws. I agree with you though. Any gun laws are foolish.

Why don’t we wait and see how the Swiss voters go before trying to convince people in this country that the world is anti-gun?

Sad.

I understand they want easy travel, and international travel is daily for many people. Convenience is the only reason they are voting for this.

Switzerland doesn’t have a gun problem. Pretty much every house has a gun. Every man and some women are part of the military, and have a weapon at home. Every month or so they are forced to go to mandatory shooting practice. I got to experience this first hand. It was great.

The world has become so small that a lot of politics can be determined by what’s outside your county.
