Actually, what made that one especially interesting is that a huge number of media commentators picked that phrase up at exactly the same time and they ALL mis-spelled it. The phrase they used was “Easter Worshippers”.
I may be wrong, but I think the double p is a considered correct in the UK (which may be the point of origin for the talking point) but in the US, we spell it the way you spelled it. But the media spelled it differently. ALL of the media spelled it differently.
