State Department orders non-emergency personnel to leave Iraq posts

The U.S. State Department has ordered "non-emergency U.S. government employees" to leave its embassy in Baghdad and its consulate in Erbil.

"The U.S. government's ability to provide routine and emergency services to U.S. citizens in Iraq is extremely limited," the department said in statement early Wednesday.

It has also warned citizens about traveling to Iraq. The U.S. embassy in Baghdad on Sunday tweeted that it was advising "all U.S. citizens of heightened tensions in Iraq and the requirement to remain vigilant."

Were you an enlisted combat soldier in a combat platoon? I was. I would have gladly done Iran if mobilized. So would all of my buddies in that National Guard unit. Some of my current friends were also combat soldiers in the Guard and have been to Afghanistan. They would love to see the mullahs defeated, especially those who were hit by Iranian-made IEDs while on patrols.

I blew one knee out at Ft. Leonard Wood over 30 years ago and stayed for another 7 years of training (6 for enlistment term and another to try out a REMF unit). Another knee in MOUT training a year or two after the first one and kept on humping. Refused disability benefits for those LOD injuries to this day. I’d be happy to scoot, moaning and groaning, into a little rice burner car and pay 6 bucks a gallon for my last few years to see Iran turned into a nice vacation place.
