China’s intensified tariff war with the Trump administration is threatening Beijing’s ambition to transform itself into the dominant player in global technology.

The United States is a vital customer and source of technology for Chinese makers of electronics, medical equipment and other high-tech exports — industries that the ruling Communist Party sees as the heart of its economic future.

That actually sounds more positive.

We should not be helping China become a world leader, we should help the US be a world leader.

Go, Trump, MAGA!

we should help the US be a world leader (in technology).

We likely would, if STEM courses were more popular than SJW classes, and we turned out 600,000 engineers a year like China instead of 60,000 ...

These moves also stall China's "Belt and Road Initiative" which is going on all over the world to spread and advance Chinese military power. The Chinese are giving generous loans in Africa, Indian Ocean nations, South America, and elsewhere so they can develop naval facilities at ports and airfields, improve infrastructure for China's use to move troops and materiel, and to corner strategic minerals for military use.

The loans are designed to cause the Third World to be indebted and more likely to cede Chinese access when they can't pay the loans back.

If Trump is successful, China will be driven back and could go broke fast when they can't be repaid and they can't afford to develop the military bases they could have gotten when the countries default.

Do not neglect drugs and key drug ingredients in their global control plan. China Rx is huge.

Our pharma got in bed with China for cheaper ingredients, then got screwed. Now many key ingredients and complete formulations come from China. With ??? For quality control. Many of our military’s drugs are China-sourced. Does that make you feel comfortable?

The Chinese have to catch up to the Israelis in many areas of technology like medicine.

We still have production in the country and a lot of the drugs come from India.

THE NEW COLD WAR IS WITH CHINA, NOT RUSSIA!

Get a grip on it, they mean to seriously conquer the world...look where they are gaining a foothold: South America, Africa and everywhere else we have overlooked.......................

I think ability alone would deter most SJWs from STEM courses.

Very few participation-trophy mooks can do that stuff.

The Chinese are not stupid, and there are a lot of them. They will inevitably be major players in the world of the future. It would be better have them as friends than as enemies. It would be even better to have them as allies.

They can still be allies, we can treat each other fairly, so both sides benefit.

Joe, you must be smoking some really high-grade $hit to write what you did. Thinking like your’s is what’s put us where we are today with China. Don’t you get it that they will NEVER be our allies? Next to perhaps the Muzzies, the Chinese are bent on world domination. So unless you want to start learning Chinese, you’d better have another look at your ideas. The Chinese are only “inevitable major players” if we allow them to be. At present, Trump could bring down China completely, because without the US marketplace, China will go bust. Think about that the next time you buy some plastic $hit Chinese-made yard furniture. These ba$tards thought it was o.k. to feed our pets Melamine as an “ingredient” to the pet food they were selling us. Just like the Muzzies, they have no compunction about killing you to dominate the world.

If we get into a shooting match with Iran, we will most certainly be facing Chinese-made weaponry!
