House Democrats are threatening the salaries of Interior, Commerce and Justice Department staff if they block ongoing committee investigations.
House Oversight and Reform Committee Chairman Elijah Cummings (D-Md.) sent letters Tuesday calling for eight current and former Trump administration officials to provide information for two of the panel’s investigations, cautioning that officials who block the interviews from taking place could see their salaries withheld.
Tyrants.
How does that differ from a partial government shutdown? A segment of the government is not getting paid in either case.
So does this mean that the Democrats are going to employ someone to disrupt payroll?

I think there might be a lot of pushback on this, I am doubtful about the legalities. I don’t believe the house can unilaterally do anything, the senate would have to agree.

More than likely....totally illegal AND criminal.
The House can do three things on its own power - refuse to pass legislation until its demands are met; badger people with subpoenas under threat of being jailed at the Capitol brig, which hasn’t been done in forever; and pass a bill of impeachment.
Which is why they are doing and discussing doing these specific things. These are all the choices they have with their very limited power.
