I respect deeply the flight-line guys, enlisted that worked the line in all sorts of weather, facing all sorts of mechanical challenges and doing the things necessary to enable our Air Force to do its job. . .well.

I had less tolerance for admin types. . .and SPs.

Admin kept their short hours, always closed for “training” and never got the paperwork right, and not only that, they expected you to know all their rules and regulations and forms and such.

SPs are another days story. . .

Gen Ron Fogleman was an outstanding Chief of Staff and a man of his word.

The female Buff rider was all about herself and not the Air Force, and she was having an affair with a married enlisted guy. That is simply NOT done or tolerated, but this female Buff rider wrapped herself in the protective embrace of feminist congress critters, and Gen Fogleman had to deal with the insane congressional ranting about sexism motivating punishment of the Buff rider.

Then there was the witch-hunt associated with the Knobar Tower bombings. Gen Fogleman was told by Sec AF to fire the general in charge of Khobar Towers.

The US general in charge of Khobar Towers had no authority to dictate actions and protective measures outside the wire. . .and that’s where the bombers placed their explosive vehicle.

Gen Fogleman resigned rather than fire the guy, and he did not not back down on punishing the female Buff rider.

Fogleman kept his honor and the honor of the Air Force.

Relieved a month before moving back to the Pentagon? The AFA commander LTG Silveira must have really disliked this individual. Curious business. Other USAF types who flew with her in operational actions praise her. Apparently she thought the Brigade of Cadets staff was slack and discipline had declined and stepped on toes to make things more military. She did have too much to do with Winestein’s hate group. Her replacement is hetero although not a flying officer and with zero operational experience (not a rated flying officer, some sort of missile command whizbang badge).
