AP U.S. HISTORY TEXTBOOK CALLS TRUMP “RACIST,” QUESTIONS HIS MENTAL STABILITY
POWERLINE ^ | 4/23/2019 | Paul Mirengoff

I have written repeatedly about the hard-left bias in the teaching of AP American History. I finally got tired of writing such posts and abandoned the beat.

But now, I learn that, beginning in 2020, many Advanced Placement students will be using an American History textbook that suggests President Trump is mentally ill and that depicts him and many of his supporters as racists. The book asserts that “[Trump’s] not very-hidden racism connected with a significant number of primary voters.”

What connected with a significant number of primary voters was Trump’s strong opposition to illegal immigration and his concern over terrorists entering the U.S. The textbook effectively characterizes these concerns as “not very-hidden racism” and those who share them as racists. This is controversial, to say the least. I consider it slanderous.

The textbook goes further. It says that Hillary Clinton supporters “worried about the mental stability of the president-elect.” Some did, or claimed to. But many Trump supporters worried about whether Clinton compromised our national security by criminally using a private email servers. Some McCain supporters worried about what they considered (with good reason) Barack Obama’s socialism and his undeniably communist mentor.

What progressivism has become is a mental illness. Among other things “progressive” being Woke is no way to go through life.

I’m sure they also show how Barack Obama never had or used a valid social security number, and that his birth documents are low level forgeries.

Would that be the same History textbook that has an entire chapter on the glories of Islam and next to nothing on Christianity?

GOTO Pearson Education Twitter page. They lost a colleague in the Sri Lanka terrorist attack. Challenge their sanity. I did. (Tweeting as DaisyJane the Kitten) Their page doesn’t show replies, but believe me, they read them:

I read that the textbook in question was being considered. It was NOT a done deal. But it wouldn’t surprise me if it IS picked.

But since our schools are ‘free’, why should we care?

If I was a parent of a high school AP History student
I would form a group of parents to be on the lookout
for this text in our local school. It would not see the
light of day. In fact, as a taxpayer I am not so sure
that any of us should let this pass. And, yes, I do
realize that many of the textbooks currently in use
are similar trash.

ANOTHER REASON TO HOMESCHOOL

This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)

The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.

I'm thinking future history books will chronicle a period in North American History (and maybe European)known as the "Great Hunt". A time which is marked by a determination only matched by the efforts of Simon Wiesenthal and his dedicated band of Nazi hunters.
Although the publishers might still be socially liberal in bent, there will be an admission that those hunted were sick in mind, and in fact, insane. And also a perplexion on how an educated society tolerated a cabal of the insane to teach their children.
There won't be a lot of public appearances of the aged hunters, only a reluctant sound bite now and then along the lines of: "would you live your life under the dictates of a society run by these crazy people, or even tolerate a life in coexistence with them?"

Now that’s some book burning I could get behind!

Moral of the story. Never let a leftist teach or write educational books. Period. Full Stop. The End.

Just because you're right doesn't mean they aren't doing it.

There are books now by "historians" saying invoke the 25th,start the impeachment, worst president in history and all the rest. Their earlier books on various historical eras are in the libraries and classrooms now---the anti Trump ones will shortly be everywhere.

Time for a class action suit against the publisher for group defamation of character and false witness.
