With strings attached?
Here’s another : The Pinault family has a net worth $35.1 billion, according to Forbes. A French journalist reported that the family pledged 100 million euros.
AND ANOTHER:
L’Oreal tweeted that the Bettencourt Meyers family and the L’Oréal Group will donate 100 million euros. Francoise Bettencourt Meyers, the richest woman in the world, is granddaughter of L’Oreal’s founder.
must have two minarets
The rebuilt cathedral will be festooned with advertising swag from the “sponsors” just like every major league ballpark. “The host today at the L’Oreal Notre Dame Cathedral mass is brought to you by Sephora.”
I love the Rich! I want to be one some day!
I hear Apple’s Tim Cook too...*sigh* so long as the CHRISTIAN SPIRIT and uncompromising CATHOLIC IDENTITY of the Cathedral is not compromised in ANY WAY WHATSOEVER.
What happens when the accidental fire happens again???
I think they want their contribution to count as a tax credit. One detail of this which people might want to consider....this is a 10-to-15 year rebuild project, it’ll easily extinguish the $500 million discussed. You could be talking about a billion dollars...mostly going into what has been for forty years...just a tourist-trap museum.
The minaret has already been designed.
Can I ask a stupid question?
Why the need for fundraising? Don’t they have insurance on Notre Dame cathedral? Doesn’t whatever business entity which owns and operates it, have insurance? So that money to rebuild is not a problem?
I wish they would have rebuilt the twin towers.
Without wealth there would be no charity.
The host today at the LOreal Notre Dame Cathedral mass is brought to you by Sephora.
If lowkey and tasteful...
Not a problem, they need to cover the costs, and bingo night is not making it.
Yes, the high beam lasers will be toned down for Lent
I know someone going through something financially and emotionally harrowing right now. So many times in recent days, I’ve wished I were “filthy” rich. Normally, all the bother of the idea puts me off...
I think these grand donations are absolutely wonderful!
I saw a church pay $600,000 for an elevator, i give ‘em the laugh, religion indeed lol, ridiculous
Long live capitalism and capitalists. Meanwhile in Venezuela, they’re rummaging through dumpsters for this evening’s dinner.
How do you insure a priceless historical structure like Notre Dame? A mostly rhetorical question.
