Not to be pedantic *but*:

past tense of BUS is BUSED

past tense of BUSS is BUSSED

If you’re bussing them into sanctuary cities, you’re kissing them all the way.

Okay, so I’ve seen some sources that say that “bus” can use either a single or double “s” with a suffix, but it still doesn’t make the headline any less silly.

I know what you mean, but I almost never see ‘Buss’ used in that manner anymore. Not since back in the 60’s or 70’s, and then, it was mostly part of a novel, something to be read, never spoken. It’s a part of a more genteel age.
