Mrs Toy sounds like a classic Asian Tiger Mom. Certainly have zero sympathy for these defendants and I wish the lady luck with her lawsuit against them, but it seems like a pretty big stretch. Did her 4.2 gpa son apply to (and get rejected by) exactly the same schools at the same time as these defendants’ kids? Hard to believe anyone with a 4.2 gpa is getting turned down at U. of Spoiled Children. And some of many of these kids got admitted as fake athletes, getting a slot reserved for an athletic recruit. Did her kid play one of those sports? Seems to me that mainly the kids who got cheated were those applicants who really did row crew, play tennis etc. and were bumped for fake athletes.
You have to recall that, last year, Harvard was litigating their limit to Orientals enrollment policy. Without it, Cambridge would look like downtown Hong Kong.
This is going to hurt the Ivy League, a lot...
Does it indicate anywhere that there were actually kids bumped? If there were hundreds and thousands of kids who got in this way and only this handfull of schools it would have more validity. But really 2 kids at USC?
Sue over perception.
Then the schools go broke (USC has enough lawsuits to bankrupt them) and the government takes over.
And everybody gets a free edumacayshun because by then it will be worth zip.
Meanwhile affirmative action likely screwed her kid, and she doesn't say anything or do anything about that.
