The fact remains that some people are so stupid they think they are smart. When those people find their way into government, they demand we follow them regardless of the damage their demands bring.

I have family members who are like this and they are absolutely convinced of their superior mental abilities yet can never convince me of their knowledge when challenged with even the most basic questions. Invariably they will respond with ‘ we will have to agree to disagree’ or ‘ you just don’t understand’ or their favorite which is to get angry and start throwing ad hominem attacks against me.

This is going to lead to violence, mark my words. At the very least, it will lead to thousands of families fleeing these totalitarian states.

___________

to where?

There is no pushback anywhere to this creeping totalitarianism.

There are many ‘distance learning programs’ and I believe it places you beyond the state’s grasp; Check with your state HS folks.

The trigger for them to attempt to spy and control you or your curriculum is when you exit the public school system. If you have the kids’ PS records transfered to a private school (whether locally or like LCS) they will have no jurisdiction.

Additionally, there are many distance learning accredited schools. U of Miami offers a high school and perhaps middle school program (it’s $$$$) and most the kids on the pro tennis circuit are educated that way.

Also, free to Floridians, and at a nominal cost to the rest, Florida Virtual Learning is an accredited program K-12 that has been around 20+ years. They offer high school AP courses and have a great reputation.

Keep in mind, accreditation is important at the HS level for college entry.

Additionally, if you want your own specific curriculum, you could just buy the cheapest long distance program, do their ‘busy work’ and submit it for strictly documentation purposes and still be homeschooling -your own way.

Good Luck.

If this crap happens, I would simply advise people to do what they can to lay low.

No, if this happens go to court and hopefully to the SCOTUS to strike down this unconstitutional overreach. Then after it's struck down, sue the government, school districts, individuals who perpetuated this damned violation of rights - into oblivion.

It’s a political call before going to court. If your in a Blue State that has been blue for a long time, forget it...you’ll lose. But still, you can try, but if you do lose, be prepared to move out of state, as you (and your kids) may become very well-known.

Thanks. I searched for florida virtual learning and found it however the first search result was a ‘virtual school’ in my state. The fine print shows it is hooked up to a government school district in a rural area. Probably a better bet to be hooked up with a private out-of-state outfit. There was recently a law passed in this state that school districts cannot ‘advertise’ their ‘virtual programs’ to ‘homeschoolers’ but who knows.

Is there a trigger for them to start spying on you if you are starting from Kinhergarten? Do they come snooping around to verify the kids are privately enrolled? Probably a letter shows up in the mail that they noticed your kid is not in a public kindergarten.

There's push-back all over the country, but good news doesn't sell newspapers, and it garners little interest around these parts.

I conversed with the author over a small network. He jumped all over my ass for disclosing the Whitewater piece in his book to the group. Sigh.

No, I have it on PDF in an old computer. A friend sent it to me years ago, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
