Jonah Goldberg is leaving National Review in the coming months to start a new conservative media company with Steve Hayes, who was editor-in-chief of The Weekly Standard when its owner shut it down in December.
Details: Goldberg and Hayes tell me they plan a reporting-driven, Trump-skeptical company that will begin with newsletters as soon as this summer, then add a website in September, and perhaps ultimately a print magazine.
Hayes, the likely CEO, and Goldberg, likely the editor-in-chief, are the founders.
Hayes tells me about the startup, which doesnt have a name now: "We believe theres a great appetite on the center-right for an independent conservative media company that resists partisan boosterism and combines a focus on old-school reporting with interesting and provocative commentary and analysis."
Hayes and Goldberg are seeking investors.
It will pizz away neverTrump cash that otherwise might be used to do something effective. Nobody is going to listen to these two clowns.
If the Republicans and never-Trumpers betray Trump and his voters, good luck getting 60 million of us to ever vote Republican again. If they screw Trump out of the Presidency, I know I’m done with the backstabbing party AND politics. When you look at the cowardly republicans refusing to stand up to the rats, you gotta know Trump was our last shot.
Neo-con, Anti-Trumpers, bof’em.
I can hardly stand Goldberg’s Twitter presence. If he’s not cooing over his dogs doing something cutesy, like running or looking at the camera, he’s making some pious, holier-than-thou post about Trump or his supporters.
A momma’s boy with a pulpit.
Gack.
In the same vein as Bill Kristol, just slightly less insane.
Goldberg is s Never Trumper and anything but a Conservative, so I will not be buying his product. Maybe can get the rest of his cabal like Richard Brooks, Bill Kritsol, Peggy Noonan and the rest of Phony Conservatives to sign on also.
My local “conservative” radio talk shows now bash “both sides” as much as possible.
Yes, I agree.
And by putting these folks out there as Conservatives, they block any real presentation or defense of Conservatism.
Absolutely yep.
I’m guessing the “consistent ‘conservatives’” are overjoyed at this news.
The GOP shifting left has been going on for ages; it was even outlined in “The Conscience of a Conservative” (the 1960 Goldwater book, not the Jeff Flake title-ripoff waste of paper). There’s a reason the word “Uniparty” was coined. And no; they are not cowardly, but liars as to what they stand for (we only know once they get in office).
Because this business model has worked so well for Weekly Standard and National Review???
Here's Mud in Your Eye
We shovel it, and if anything sticks, you can scrape it off the walls.
“...Trump-skeptical company...”
What do these two idiots have against winning...
Nice job losers.
Jonah and Hayes killed the National Review with their Never-Trumpism and now they plan to start a new organization with the same poison.
At which window do we place our bets?
They really do suck hard.
“Jonah Goldberg is leaving National Review in the coming months to start a new conservative media company”
Jonah Goldberg is not a conservative. He is a dishonest, never Trumper.
I can't stomach either one of them..
There was a time I liked the Stephen dude...he was on FOX NEWS often...when he went with NEVER TRUMP AND GOPe I walked away...
