Everyone I talk to is leaving Northern CA or planning to leave at the first opportunity.

As I indicated in the other thread, my wife and I weren't exactly chomping at the bit to leave California. But once our only kid had moved to another state three years ago, it was just a matter of time before we followed.

There are a few reasons why I didn't want to move (weather being the primary reason), but there are many more reasons why moving made sense (remind me when we go through our first Texas summer). Financially, it made great sense, especially in the future when our RMDs kick in and we don't have to pay state income taxes (Texas!).

I did, in 89 because I saw it coming. Put the Bay Area in the rear view mirror as I jaunted off to Ft Worth and never looked back.

We are getting our home ready to be put on the market in April/May. Hubby is a California native. Ive been here since ‘85.

So many people we know either have moved or are moving. It’s crazy!

I loved SoCal, for awhile, swam at least a half-mile in the ocean every morning, ran and hiked through valleys and mountain trails, and went to California national parks as often as possible when I lived there. I miss lots of things in California, but would never move back there unless things changed dramatically. It’s very sad.
