WASHINGTON (AP) — Congress rolled toward resolving its border security brawl with President Donald Trump in uncommonly bipartisan fashion Thursday, preparing to approve a compromise averting a new government shutdown this weekend but providing a mere sliver of the billions Trump has demanded for a wall with Mexico.

With Trump’s halfhearted signature widely expected but not yet guaranteed, the Democratic-controlled House was poised to pass the sweeping measure Thursday evening, and the Republican-led Senate was expected to approve as well. Bargainers formally completed the accord moments before midnight Wednesday night.

Big Mistake. They have castrated Trump if he signs that bill.

Veto bill. Close border. Do not declare emergency. If the whole country hurts the traitors will fix it quickly.

Closing the border will hurt the big guys. They have the power to put the squeeze on the Congress.

Congress is about to be fed it’s own lunch.

Trump is going for the border protection, the only REAL border protection.

Typical Congressional action. Generate a huge bill, delay voting on it until last hour forcing Executive Branch to sign it and avoid a government shutdown. Maybe we should shut down Congress for about 6 months...and not pay them for its duration.

What do you mean? Sounds like the bill has a lot of bad stuff in it, and they’ve given him a short amount of time to read it all and figure out the implications. Kind of like Pelosi, “we have to pass it to know what is in it”. Trumps going to go along with that?

All around bad bad bill!! Has too many poison pills in it! Even with the emergency declaration...he is giving the mayors(I believe) in the bill power to declined certain procedures or enforcement that would automatically stop the flow of invaders by refusing the wall’s construction! This bill is filled with incentives for the illegals to continue their flow to our country! Almost half billion dollars to help them with the necessities to make them comfortable here in the US when they touch our soil! Incredible the Congress is truly Americas traitorous evil enemy! They literally boxed the president in a corner!! There’s really not much he can do ...ALL both republican senators and congress members have backstabbed their base!! I don’t know if by signing this bill he has automatically tied his hands! He must be feeling awful right now...EFFIN bastards from both parties, but especially our representatives!!

Once again the Republican surrender monkeys appear to help destroy the country and the President.

Once again. They aren’t surrender monkeys. They are globalists who hate this country.

I keep making the same point to all the Freepers who accuse GOP lawmakers of being “weak” on borders. No , they’re being STRONG for theit big donors and the open-borders policy that the donors demand

1.4b is nearly 25% of 5.7b. Is 25% a "sliver"?

I don’t know that I would even give them that.

I think that, like Dennis Hastert, they’re just placeholders that vote as they’re told in return for certain ‘perishable’ deliveries.
