It is nothing to do with control freak and everything to do with the fact that a non-medically trained person has no idea how to diagnose an illness, no resources to conduct the appropriate lab tests, and no knowledge of how to decide which would be the correct course of action once the condition is diagnosed. Furthermore, taking a drug that is not medically necessary can cause serious health problems. You cant just put a drug out on the shelf for people to buy OTC when it takes a medical exam and testing to know whether and how much to take.
You didn’t read what I said. Go read what I actually said and get back to me. Or don’t and prove you just like to hear yourself talk.
That is not true. My mother never stepped inside a medical school, and raised all her children with prescription drugs which were available OTC circa before 1960 in India.
It is called FREEDOM to be able to take responsibility for yourself..IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING.
Circa 2019, there is so much info available on internet searches, the job of using the correct medications is 1000 times easier than during my mother’s time.
For those who would prefer going to a doctor should be able to do so by all means. But give freedom a chance for those who are willing to take responsibility for themselves. I check my blood pressure, blood glucose levels and and urine analysis all the time using simple gadgets available OTC (thank God) and don’t always need a doctor to tell me what to do.

Agreed , but the costs associated with seeing a doctor and getting that rx are enormous and beyond many peoples ability to pay.. many poor countries allow pharmacists to make drug recommendations. Whatever the solution is we need lower costs that allow working poor that do not qualify for medicaid to access healthcare.
