As police in Chicago continue their investigation of last week’s alleged attack on “Empire” star Jussie Smollett, a Chicago Police Department official tells Fox News they are withholding some information in order to verify reports from people coming forward.
As previously reported, the 36-year-old Smollett, who is black and openly gay, told officers that he was accosted while walking to his apartment by two men who called him an "Empire f----t [n-word]." Smollett then said the men beat him and poured an "unknown chemical substance" on him, staining his clothes. The report said that when responding officers arrived, Smollett had a white rope draped around his neck.
The CPD told Fox News that they are withholding certain information about the attack because more people are coming forward that “can be helpful” to the investigation. The CPD also tells Fox News that they are withholding certain information because they want to have “all their ducks in a row” if they open this case up to “interrogations.”
Regarding the account from a Smollett neighbor who claimed to see a “redneck” with a rope, the CPD official tells Fox News they could not find any surveillance video showing the “redneck” described, and that the neighbor's description of the “redneck” did not fit Smollett’s description of the reported suspects.

CPD is wasting hundreds of man hours to solve a Grindr date gone bad. The "victim" is refusing all forms of cooperation, his "ear witness" isn't cooperating, the Hollywood press is running with a non-existent narrative. The "persons of interest" are all but unidentifiable and left the area 20 minutes before the "attack," not to mention the anonymous witness who saw a "hillbilly looking" character that not a single camera in a one mile radius has a picture of.
And that's just from a couple of people working the case.

I find it hard to believe, that two bigoted attackers were out on a cold night, with bleach and rope, on the off chance they encounter an actor they hate, so they can attack him.
Really getting tired of reading about this clown.
Comments say police had to get a subpoena for the phone records of the “victim” and his agent (Whom he was allegedly on the phone with during the attack). Jussie and his agent both refused to give consent to review phone records of the evening of the reported assault.
I wonder why.
Lot of resources here being used for publicity for this Smollett character. I guess he was feeling a little bit insignificant. The police are dedicating as much effort and, of course expense, as they would to a high profile actual crime to show that they are as PC as anybody in San Francisco. And for Smollett, all publicity is good for his fame and status.
I suspect the investigators are finding evidence that it never happened.
Hard to do... but if Jussie keeps on talking...
I hope they eventually press charges for “false reporting”.
But it won’t happen. Why? Because that would cause a PR nightmare. Filing charges would be “proving” Chicago cops are racists AND homophobic because they don’t believe the “victim”.
You find it hard to believe because it didn’t happen.
His apartment is in a wealthy part of Chicago where business people have apartments. Many have houses elsewhere. There are black young men that from time to time mug a guy. But I have never heard of white people doing it. There are cameras everywhere. I think you could not walk ten feet without being in view of a camera around there. But most importantly, rednecks do not watch Empire. And he would never be recognized by a redneck. And my never be recognized by anybody.
Jussie got into a fight somehow. Or he was trying to choke himself. But he did not get recognized by two rednecks, who then beat him up in the most liberal part of a very liberal city. Bing black and gay in Chicago is not unusual.
Has Mueller indicted these 2 MAGA muggers yet? I’m certain they had something to do with Russia...
Since these were produced, reports show he was "attacked" in a 1 minute time slice and managed to hold on to his cell phone AND his Subway sandwich. Right.
Best theory yet on what is really going on here, is that he is ginning up a fake hate crime to support Kamala Harris:
