I’ve read that some of the ‘nonessential’ actually received unemployment checks during a previous shutdown. And, get this, when the government reopened, they received back pay AND did not have to return the unemployment funds.
Creepozoids All.

What a racket!!! Didn’t know they could file for unemployment benefits during shutdown. Then get backpay and not pay back the unemployment. Wonder if private sector has that option? Bet not!!!

Only those who have been furloughed. And when government reopens and they get their back pay for the time off they are required to pay the unemployment back.

Those who are working without pay are ineligible for unemployment.
