That sounds like a painful and debilitating condition.
There is no such thing as an “Asian”, in Asia.
They fear and/or despise each other, usually.
In California there is no common identity at all, not among the real people.
The Filipinos and Viets certainly don’t consider the Chinese some of theirs, and vice versa, and lets not mention the Indians.
“Asian” doesn’t get you anywhere in college admissions.
The opposite in fact.
Weirdly enough it still counts for other government goodies.
Minority-owned business set asides for instance.

Hmm...rearrange `Ahole’ and you get `Haole’, an ethnic slur in Hawaii meaning white person.
It is dangerous in Hawaii to pretend to be something that ethnically you’re not. It’s already dangerous to be a `haole’ as in their annual “Kill a Haole Day”.
Ed Case is already risking bodily harm from Dah Bruddahs whose right it is to assault any haole they see, with no consequences.
To make things worse, a haole self-identifying as Asian only becomes a member of another group that native Hawaiians also despise, as in “banana: yellow on the outside, white on the inside”.
That’s nothing, I’m male and actually a Lesbian trapped in a man’s body.
