Democrats will not negotiate with President Donald Trump to end the partial government shutdown – because Trump is an “amoral hostage-taker”- Hawaii Democrat Sen. Mazie Hirono declared Thursday.
Speaking to members of the National Federation of Federal Employees (NFFE) at a protest in Washington, D.C., Sen. Hirono said Trump “doesn’t give a rat” about what’s right or wrong, so he’s holding 800,000 federal employees hostage by shutting down the government to “get his vanity wall”:

2) The Democrats refuse to negotiate at all. And Why?
Other than to keep POTUS from fulfilling a campaign promise ....The demokraps believe they will be rewarded in 2020 and POTUS + GOP will be punished. They also expect the GOP to cave based on past shutdowns and threats of shutdowns. If POTUS declares a national emergency too early, the demokraps will declare victory as they further sue to stop the building. Trump should be looking right now to find emergency funding for the TSA, Homeland Security so things deteriorate there, his emergency decision when made will be multipronged ... and the demokrats will have to deal with all three despite emergency funding.

I'm obviously no fan of the 17th Amendment, but I think Hirono is the type of person the Hawaii State legislature would have chosen if the 17th Amendment had not been adopted. Hawaii is an ultra-Left-Wing State.
The nation should have stopped at contiguous 48.
Easy now. I lived there when statehood was approved. Most ‘hay’whyuns’ luved it then. ;-)
