Mitt Romney’s op-ed Wednesday in The Post is being widely praised by the usual suspects in Never-Trump Land. This should be your first clue as to how wildly out of touch the senator-elect is with Republican voters.

Verrrrrry interesting that the WAPO published this OP-ED a day after Romney’s. Just goes to show you that they still hate Mittens, even when he is their useful idiot of the day. Personally, I thought Howie Carr’s scathing OP-ED on Romney in the Boston Herald (below) was a near perfect takedown of Mittens and his hypocrisy.

Romney could tie his dog to the roof of his car and go back on vacation. He’d do himself and all of us a favor. (Imo)

DO NOT post the full article in comments.

FR lost a legal battle with the Wash Post years ago. We are required to only post excerpts less than 300 words, and that later became the case for many other websites as well.

Romney’s obliviousness comes through in other parts of his piece, too.

The Blue Blood RINO GOP is a thing of the past and Romney is clinging to it like a life raft from the Titanic.

Apparently he’s not too out of touch with Republican voters, he won. They can share the blame.

“Mitt Romney’s op-ed Wednesday in The Post is being widely praised by the usual suspects in Never-Trump Land. This should be your first clue as to how wildly out of touch the senator-elect is with Republican voters.

What are some others? Let’s start with the article’s premise that President Trump’s character is more important than his accomplishments or principles. Most Republicans simply don’t accept this argument. Many instead see Trump’s pugnacious and sometimes crude talk as an essential part of his virtue — he fights while other Republicans cower. Others would prefer he tweet less and do more, but still prefer Trump’s fallen angel to a Democratic devil.

Romney would like you to believe you can have your cake and eat it, too — that you can be against Trump’s character but for his policies. But that doesn’t work in the real world. Railing about character hurts the president, and Republicans know that.

Romney’s obliviousness comes through in other parts of his piece, too. He explains what aspects of Trump’s tenure he supports, and — lo and behold! — they are the same as those he purportedly supported during his two failed attempts to become president. Notably absent from this approved list? Trump’s immigration proposals. But these have everything to do with why he won. The vast majority of Republicans want illegal immigration controlled now. Nearly half want immigrants living here without legal authority to be deported, and more than 80 percent want Trump’s wall.

Likewise, Romney omits Trump’s tariffs and trade policies, which are far more extensive than simply confronting China. You can debate their effectiveness, but his renegotiation of the North American Free Trade Agreement and his ongoing trade negotiations with the European Union...”

Agree, nailed it. A neat quote, “If you’re a Republican putting the blast on other Republicans, you’re the toast of the town. At least until you’re running head-to-head against a Democrat. Then you’re just plain toast.”

A SNAPSHOT OF MITT ROMNEY:
<><> as a 2012 presidential candidate Mitt flew to Las Vegas to slobberingly accept Trump's endorsement,
<><> Mitt later denounced Trump him as a flim-flam man in early 2016 when Trump himself was seeking the job,
<><> months later Mitt sucked-up----he went to Trump Tower on bended knee to beg Pres-elect Trump for the Secy of State job.

SALT LAKE CITY, UT—Mitt Romney, incoming senator for Utah and follower of Joseph Smith, lectured the nation in an op-ed Tuesday on the need to reject morally flawed leaders.

The man who has devoted his life to the teachings of a con artist encouraged the nation to examine its leaders to see whether they are worthy of our devotion and respect.

“A president should demonstrate the essential qualities of honesty and integrity, and elevate the national discourse with comity and mutual respect,” wrote the man who follows Joseph Smith, a false prophet, notorious polygamist, and scam artist. He pointed out that the president hasn’t shown himself to be honest or forthcoming in his dealings with opponents and other countries, while Joseph Smith’s own prophecies failed to come true over and over again, and while the Mormon Church continues to deceive its members by covering up its past.

Romney took Trump to task for his immoral lifestyle, slamming him for being divisive, destructive, and sexist, though the first prophet of his church consolidated power throughout his life in order to marry more women and eventually deceive millions into believing a false gospel.

To close his opinion piece, Romney urged the president to live a morally upstanding lifestyle, “and maybe look for wisdom to lead the nation by staring at stones in a hat.”

Rand Paul slams Mitt Romney: ‘a big government Republican’
Washington Examiner ^
Posted on 1/2/2019, 11:14:28 AM by RandFan

Washington is already taking sides in the battle between President Trump and incoming Utah Sen. Mitt Romney, with Trump ally Sen. Rand Paul slamming the 2012 GOP presidential nominee.

Paul tweeted that Romney is a “Big Government Republican” and a faux conservative, and a top Paul aide said that Trump is delivering on his promises.

Did anyone else find it odd that the publication (Washington Post) that originally put the op-ed from Romney in it’s paper the very next day has an op-ed in it’s paper slamming the former op-ed?

Freshman Senator Romney, let me sum up for you why President Donald J. Trump is the President and you are not. No one, not even your staunchest supporters believe you would be fighting like he!! for wall funding right now and keeping this government shut down until you get it. Everyone on Free Republic and across the Republican universe knows that you would have caved long ago.

To sum up Freshman Senator Romney, you may spout the conservative line in the same vein as President Trump but deep in your heart you either don’t believe it or are not willing to fight for it. So for that reason Freshman Senator Romney, while you may be a better moral man you are not the President.

They will be back in force in 2024. They hope to wait Trump out and return to cowardice and sellouts as usual. Trouble is Trump has and continues to expose the lefty frauds in the GOP daily and most of what was the GOP circa 2012 is gone except for the GOPE and those who live, die and worship the Republican Party. They lost enough of the conservative vote because of their political cowardice and failure to even half heartedly fight the Democrats they cannot win another election.

The party either goes populist with conservative bent or dies.
