The proof is in the pudding.
How good a friends could they be if they no longer talk to you? You were under an illusion that they were your friends.
And as for family, my wife's uncle says, "They ain't no kin of mine."
You're better off without them. Life goes on.
That said, I believe you are right. It's a shame, but good riddance.
