Congress critters can’t vote conveniently off-site, why are SCOTUS allowed?

An excellent question. Why do they even need to be in chamber if they can vote from anywhere?
If they can vote from off-site, how do we know that someone isn’t holding a gun to their head to force them to vote a certain way? I thought that was the purpose of being in chambers.
