They should have made a partition, Israel style, and be done with it
That would have made much more sense, but Israel doesn’t have a true partition; they still have a large Palestinian population, and they fill many low-skilled jobs.
The white South Africans should have taken the best area for gold & diamonds, ensured access to a large coastline, and built their state on that. As the rest of Africa threw out their Europeans, South Africa should have attracted them.
