No kidding - I recently learned an old aquaintance that I hadn’t heard from in years had a sex change. Married, 2 kids, over 40, suddenly decides he’s a woman.
Why?
What kind of sexual relationship are you going to have (while still married) do you THINK you want to have at this point?
And if it’s not about sex... WHY?!
(Yes I realize people over 40 have sex :) but if you’ve gone this far in life doing it “wrong”...)
No one understands the real motivation except those who make such a choice, and some of these people don’t understand it either. They just go with the strongest urge of that time.
I am guessing that for a middle-aged, still married man with children to go through this, indicates someone who feels that something is missing in their lives. This ‘something missing’ can be spiritual fulfillment, ego inflation, or an ongoing sense of depression, where nothing excites you anymore.
Spritual Fulfillment: Often obtained through religion, study of spirituality, hobbies, volunteering in order to remind oneself that you are a useful, needed person.
Ego Inflation: Often obtained through work, pay or duty promotions, sexual and/or romantic pursuits, deliberately causing disruption to others in order to prove to oneself you still have personal power, as in people who commit adultery or seem to enjoy breaking up well established relationships, just for a challenge.
Ego Inflation for Children: Defying authority, and causing untold commotion until you get your way. That gives a child their first taste of power and manipulation.
Once they learn how to play the game, how to pit different authority figures against each other, it’s a rather simple
method. Such people become accustomed to taking great pleasure in the pain or inconvenience they deliberately cause to other people. Why? Because they can.
Other, Some of the more cooperative children secretly admire those ‘troublemakers’.
