To: Old Teufel Hunden
It's just like here. The big cities outvote the rural folk.

We just had an enormously wonderful senate candidate in Mi who lost to a complete loser Dem. He took all but 3 counties in Michigan and was hugely popular.

But Lansing, Ann Arbor and Detroit called the shots.

The people protesting are working all week in their native outlying provinces and driving to Paris to protest on weekends. They are truckers, fishermen, construction workers, teachers. They are already working.

They are paying high taxes for services that are not available where they live. Healthcare, transportation.

They submitted a list of demands to the French govt last Fri and one of them was "France First".

Sounds like they could use a little 'Make France Great Again' slogan!!

I agree with you, the divisions in French politics are not unlike our divisions in American politics.
