Don't know if Freepers have asked this, but what is the yellow vest supposed to signify? And why was yellow chosen?

French govt requires all car owners to buy one and keep it in the car for when the vehicle is disabled etc. It signifies that these are all middle class people out there protesting taxes.

Every car in France must have a yellow safety vest, in case stranded on the road.

Guessing they picked that cuz that’s just what you wear if you’re standing in the road.
