House Lawmakers on Saturday released the transcript of former FBI Director James Comeys closed-door testimony, just 1-day after being questioned about the FBIs decisions related to Hillary Clinton's email server and the 2016 presidential election.
House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte, R-Va., and House Oversight/Government Reform Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy, R-SC, published the 235-page transcript as a part of an agreement with Comey.
He initially challenged the subpoena to appear before the committee and instead pressed for a public hearing out of concerns his comments would be selectively leaked and taken out of context.
The details of the transcript revealed that Comey left lawmakers frustrated with his lack of specifics.

According to a statement from Gowdys Office, Comey answered I dont remember 71-times, I dont know 166-times and I dont recall 8-times.
When asked if the FBI had any evidence that anyone in the Trump campaign conspired to hack the DNC server, Comey gave a long-winded answer referring to Special Counsel Robert Muellers investigation as to why he couldnt answer.
Did we have evidence in July of (2016) that anyone in the Trump campaign conspired to hack the DNC server? Comey asked rhetorically. I don't think that the FBI and special counsel want me answering questions that may relate to their investigation of Russian interference during 2016. And I worry that that would cross that line.
When pressed further by Gowdy about what factual predicate the bureau had to launch a counterintelligence investigation, Comey again claimed that answering that question would be a slope that would ask him to reveal what the FBI did or didnt know about Russia activity as it related to the 2016 election.
You can't tell us, or you won't tell us? Gowdy asks.
...So it's both a can't and a won't, Comey replied.

the time is coming when no one will take the law seriously. Right now the elites think laws are only for little people. But, before long it could all break down and then the physically strong and psychologically ruthless will wreak havoc over society - including the elites.
What pathetic kabuki . We don’t need no stinkin ‘ laws.
If he’s that stupid, you get to wondering how the idiot wrote a book.
sorry I lost the election talk to the other guy
> Take a clue from the fired FBI director. Going forward, all FBI interviews should be answered in the same manner.
Or don’t talk to them at all.
Like his friend Hillary who simply said “I cannot recall”.
Headshake.
All he is sorry about, they someone finally questioned something he and his friends did.
To put the legal system back in the bottle is going to be a great challenge.
He's not stupid Liz, he's lying about 'not remembering'.
How dreadful that a former head of our largest law enforcement agency would 'teach' our young to refuse to answer questions when under oath by lying about memory loss.
Criminals sitting in our prisons wish Comey had 'taught' them now to 'beat the rap' earlier. What a disgrace.
Comey has seen the writing etched on the walls.
He knows the jig is up.
The Congress also knows the jig is up and to prove it, held a closed door hearing that would induce Comey to make a fool of himself.
He did. He had no other choice
Mr. Comey -I dont remember 71-times, I dont know 166-times and I dont recall 8-times.”
Congressman Billybob:
Mr. Chairman, as a member of this Committee, a Committee which is exercising our constitutional power of oversight. I move to pause these proceedings for 10 minutes while we call in the Sargent at Arms to arrest Mr. Comey on the charge of Contempt of Congress and that he be detained by the Capitol police until such time that he decides to answer our questions.
