Barr was probably the best U.S. AG since the Reagan administration. That’s not saying much, since most of them have been @ssholes. But it’s kind of remarkable that he’s been out of government for 25 years.
While one can dream that Trump would only get outsiders into these positions who would drain the swamp with total capitulation of the swamp creatures ... the reality is that he is going to need some people like Barr, who was in, then out in the real world, only to return again. One needs people who understand DC.
Barr is not a partisan if my memory serves me correctly. I don’t expect him to roll over for the democraps. For him to take the job after being out of government for as long as you say, seeing how Trump ripped Sessions in public, and taking a job he once held before - I would be interested in his motivation.
But I think this is a good political move by Trump. The media and democraps just demonstrated for the past week (despite their “amnesia”) about how much they loved the greatness and bipartisan 41st President. And now Trump picks H.W.’s AG; ... are they going to rip him to shreds in the hearings and/or vote against Barr now?
