Barr, 68, a well-respected Republican lawyer who served as attorney general from 1991 to 1993 under President George H.W. Bush, has emerged as a favorite candidate of a number of Trump administration officials...Administration officials expect Barrs nomination would be received positively by Republicans who respect his experience and Democrats who would likely view him as an old-school GOP lawyer with no particular personal loyalty to the president.

I guess Alberto Gonzales was busy?
If he’s not a shark, he needn’t apply.....
Pick a powerhouse ANTI-GOVERNMENT go getter to the position. How about someone from the staff of Judicial Watch???
Hey! Why not Bob Barr?
Trump got elected promising to appoint “killers”.
I haven’t seen any yet. Maybe he’s waiting for his second term of office.
That photo-cartoon captures the essence of that meeting exactly. Romney was a dupe with as much chance of being appointed SOS as my cat. And my cat is pretty smart.

Haven’t you seen the coverage? GHW Bush walked on water. So, anyone who worked for has to be wonderful.
______________
Yes, he stinks. I saw him this morning on tv ....... and I don't like him.
He's wrong.
No more government jobs for this tool.
He lived on my friend's street in Point Breeze.
This likable guy named his daughter ..... Candy.
Really.

Will he prosecute the clintons and obamas? If not then do not hire him.
Barr would be a big step down from Sessions, who at least was a reliable immigration hawk.
I understand Trump's need to appoint some GOP establishmentarians because he needs the cooperation of Republicans in the House and Senate in order to govern, but that still doesn't justify having almost all appointments Bush I/II-cabinet retreads or McCain clones.
