Conservative commentator Charlie Kirk went after Rep.-elect Alexandria Ocasio Cortez in an interview Thursday after the New York Democrat endorsed House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) for Speaker the previous day.
“This is what is so scary is that Ocasio-Cortez pretends to be the fighter for the people," Kirk, 24, the founder of Turning Point USA, said on "Fox & Friends." "Yet she represents an ideology that has destroyed cultures and destroyed civilizations and destroyed countries over the last 100 years."
"Of course, we're talking about democratic socialism, or just socialism in general, and Pelosi is bought and paid for by a lot of special interests," he argued. "But Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez fights for ideology that's even more harmful than those special interests.”
Ocasio-Cortez, who describes herself as a democratic socialist, endorsed Pelosi for Speaker on Wednesday in a tweet to her 1.3 million followers.
Ocasio-Cortez, 29, has become a rising star on the left, gaining considerable influence among the party's left wing after defeating 10-term incumbent Rep. Joseph Crowley (D) in a primary earlier this year in New York's 14th District.
Her endorsement of Pelosi this week was seen as key for the longtime Democratic leader, bolstering her support among a crop of incoming progressive Democratic lawmakers as Pelosi seeks to retake the Speaker's gavel in the new Congress next year.
Kirk, a staunch President Trump supporter and frequent Ocasio-Cortez critic, founded Turning Point USA in 2012 while in college. The group describes its mission as "to educate students about the importance of fiscal responsibility, free markets, and limited government."
Yes they are doing excellent work. And it is heartening to hear that when the kids get to hear the truth they are surprised and motivated.

Nancy Pelosi is a founding member of the “Progressive Caucus” which is the child of the Democratic Socialists of America. Now scrubbed their website once had a page entitled “Karl Marx, The Man With A Plan!”
Congressman (LT COL.) Alan West called out the House as having over 80 Communists in it. He was talking about the Progressive Caucus. Nancy Pelosi made sure West lost his seat the following election cycle.
