CNN Has Played Right Into Trump’s Hands

In what has become one of the dumbest stories of the year, CNN sued President Trump Tuesday.

The litigation alleges the White House did not have grounds to revoke the press credential of reporter Jim Acosta, whom Trump berated during a post-election press conference last Wednesday.

“CNN filed a lawsuit against the Trump Administration this morning in DC District Court,” read a statement from the network. “It demands the return of the White House credentials of CNN’s Chief White House correspondent, Jim Acosta. The wrongful revocation of these credentials violates CNN and Acosta’s First Amendment rights of freedom of the press, and their Fifth Amendment rights to due process. We have asked this court for an immediate restraining order requiring the pass be returned to Jim, and will seek permanent relief as part of this process.”

Not only was the White House unfazed by the lawsuit, they welcomed it.

According to the complaint, CNN made several attempts to reach a resolution with the Trump administration, threatening to sue if Acosta’s credential was not returned.

These threats were ignored, because as far as the White House is concerned, the longer Trump’s feud with Acosta stays in the news, the better. As the Daily Beast points out, several administration officials “have said that they privately celebrate whenever a Trump vs. Acosta narrative emerges in the national press,” as if there’s one front on which the president has consistently won since taking office, it’s his war on the media.

This latest tiff with Acosta is just another skirmish to fall in the president’s favor, even if — or maybe especially if — Acosta is able to return to the White House.

going to disagree... there will likely be some stupid liberal Judge that rules in favor of CNN.... ONLY to get slapped down from a higher court. That said, the focus will be on the first challenge and revocation. Bank on it.

Why is it that cnn expects 1st amendment rights but denies “We the people” our rights?

Consider what happens if Trump just decides to cancel the whole idea of press conferences, and goes with one on one interviews with selected reporters. And if you piss him off, you don’t get selected again.

Immigration should be merited.
Interviewing with the president should be merited. There should be no automatic access to the President. Every interview should be recorded by the president’s staff and then edited for public release if approved. Otherwise no more grandstanding or self aggrandizing attacks on the elected and sitting president of the United States.

As long as CNN is prosecuting this lawsuit, Trump and Sanders need to refuse to answer any questions posed by anyone at CNN.

They should simply say that due to pending litigation that any questions from CNN or about CNN need to be submitted in writing to the Attorneys for The Administration.

Maybe we need to make White House Press Pass holders into national electoral offices. Two from each state and territory, staggered like the Senate.( Heavy Sarc.)

Then the ba$tards would be accountable to the public for their insidious lies and propaganda. ( Even heavier sarc.)

President Trump wins yet again.

How dare he impose professional standards of conduct on the press?

Buahahahahahahhahahaah!

This is a holy crusade by cnn which seems somewhat self destructive. They are behaving less and less like a news agency and more and more like a subsidiary of whoever is also in control of the democrat party.

LOL! Yeah, he wishes.

Acosta is like a comedian who is not funny but keeps hoping that he will get his own comedy special.

Daily alcohol testing - blowing the tube and weekly random drug testing needs to start on the White House Press corps? Certainly needed.

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances...oh, and everyone gets a white house press pass”

The phrase “freedom of the press” means only that the publishers of newspapers and books, and by extension other communications media, cannot be censored prior to publication by the government. It does not grant or imply any special privilege or immunity to the employees of these publishers (usually referred to as ‘journalists’) to access to government officials, or to any physical location, nor to ask questions, harass or even express personal opinions to the face of those government officials, in any way exceeding the rights of the ordinary citizen. It does not mean that they, nor their employees, are somehow immune to the consequences of the publication of their version of the facts or opinions, nor are they immune to the consequences of their behavior

Wen the Rats control the House giving them lots of hair on fire but otherwise trivial crap to investigate is good strategy. Give them lots of trivial crap to get hair on fire angry about to waste time “investigating”. Add another ring to the circus.

“...cancel the whole idea of press conferences and go[] with one on one interviews with selected reporters.”

Certainly one viable option. The POTUS is not required by Law or Constitution to report to anyone but Congress.

And let all the other news outlets know that the cancellation of the press conferences, and the shutting down of the facilities provided for the former “White House Press Corps” was entirely due to the rude and unacceptable behavior of ‘certain journalist(s).’
