Elgar: Quintet for Piano and Strings in A minor, Op. 84, second movement

This adagio movement in E Major from his Piano Quintet of 1919 is an elegy for England’s war dead in the Great War. It is one of Edward Elgar’s most profound pieces, a monument of 20th Century composition. It was played at his funeral in 1934.
