Sessions weighing bid to win back former Senate seat
NYPost ^ | November 8, 2018

Dumped Attorney General Jeff Sessions is weighing a bid to win back his old Senate seat in Alabama, a report said.

Sessions, fired by President Trump a day after Republicans lost control of the House in the midterm elections, left the seat in 2017 when he was nominated to head up the Justice Department.

But Sessions could run against Democrat Doug Jones, who won a special election in December 2017 to fill the seat and is up for re-election in 2020, Politico reported late Wednesday.

Just hang it up, Jeffie. You have proved your worth (or lack thereof...) beyond a shadow of a doubt. Someone is pulling your puppet strings, and their party starts with a “D”. Go retire and take up painting or something.

I agree, I have no bad thoughts regarding Senator Sessions and I would vote for him again.
He should never have left..

As would I.

Lots of rock chunkers trying to speak for Alabama. How cute.

He failed the bar, hence the insurance gig. I grew up with him - he was always a clothes horse that spends more time on his hair than a drag queen. :)

Sessions should run for the seat... he’s a good man - just not the right person to head the DOJ...

As if we need any more evidence that Sessions is one of those who is for All Government All The Time.

He MUST be a part of government. His identity is fused with government.

What other marker does one need to show that this creep is completely unsuited for leadership. These types are extremely dangerous.

I wouldn’t shut him down just yet. It could be that he and Trump made a deal for his resignation that includes his loyalty and Trump supporting his bid. He made the mistake of recusing himself, but he has always been strong on immigration security.

I can’t say that I foresaw how Sessions would handle the AG job, but I was not pleased to see him chosen for the job and taken out of the senate where he would have been one of Trump’s strongest supporters.

And I hope the president will not look into Congress to find future appointees and pluck out his strongest supporters. Not a good strategy in this environment. And, no, Lindsey Graham should not be considered for AG just as he’s become a valuable ally of Trump on most all issues.

And Sessions will probably win if he chooses to run for his old senate seat in 2020.

I can darn well guarantee you Sessions has more than enough money to have a wonderful retirement.

It is too bad that people who gravitate towards politics are narcissists and have no other want than for power and notoriety.

We need to eliminate the ability for people to become career politicians. Our founding Fathers even warned us about them.

I prefer Alabama Senate Senator Dick Brewbaker.

He’s young, energetic, and even led the senate to pass a bill making possession of less than an ounce of Marijuana only a fine and no jail time. Did you know almost HALF the inmates in jail in Alabama are their for possession? It’s stupid.

I do not take drugs or smoke anything, I don’t even drink but I think legal marijuana prohibition dumb and we can tax it rather than ban it to help our poor state!

It is possible that Trump told him that he would be needed more in the senate after this weeks election. Since the democrats took the house he is going to need a strong prosecutor who is not hampered by recusal in order to play defense and offense as things happen. I am sure Sessions would understand this. I suspect they broke on good terms, Jeff Sessions is a good man.

He got two paragraphs into his resignation letter and an aide had to finish it because Sessions recused himself from the finishing it.

I have to agree.

We KNOW what he’s about now.

NOTHING.

We don’t have to Think of what he’s about.

And what self respecting citizen could vote for him after he STARTED THE BALL ROLLING TOWARDS POSSIBLE IMPEACHMENT!??!!!?

Trump won’t be kicked out.

But ALL of this and THE LIVES RUINED BECAUSE OF IT ARE BECAUSE OF SESSIONS.

We expect the enemy to try to destroy us.

We don’t expect our AG to step aside so they can.

Or maybe some here think he’s still playing double secret probation 84D Chess and has covert ops going on.

Sessions is very popular here in BAMA and a rock solid conservative while in the Senate.

If he runs he will win in a huge landslide. Jones is down over 20 points to "Anyone" in generic polls.

Problem is he will be 74 in 2020. We already have one geriatric Senator in Shelby, who will be 86 at the end of his term in 2022.

it is time for some of the younger blood in Alabama to move into those seats. Lke young whipper-snapper Mo Brooks (66 in 2020)

Sessions is my age. I was originally a supporter of him. Was willing to give him a chance to get a grip on what was going on at the DOJ, and make some waves. He’s had plenty of time to prove the naysayers wrong, and he failed miserably. If the people of Alabama look long, and hard at Sessions in his role as AG, they will see a man who had the chance to take the bull by the horns, but refused to, and one would hope they could not bring themselves to vote for him. He failed this country as AG, and shouldn’t be given another chance at any political office. Time to hang it up, and retire.
