Half of Americans believe that Republicans will maintain control of the House in the midterm elections Tuesday, according to Gallup's nal poll. The result of that question has lined up with the actual election outcome every time Gallup has asked it since 1946. Fifty percent of Americans believe Republicans will stay in power in the House, while 44 percent believe Democrats will take control. In a larger note of condence, Americans also believe that Republicans will retain the majority in the Senate. Sixty-one percent say Republicans will hold power in the Senate following the elections, and 33 percent believe that Democrats will take control. The poll concluded that Democrats are much more worried than Republicans about the outcome of the 2018 midterm elections. Eighty-one percent of Democrats say they are very or somewhat worried about the fallout of a Republican controlled Congress, in either one or both chambers. On the other hand, 66 percent of Republicans say the same about a Democrat win in one or both houses. The survey was conducted from mid to late October.

Trump was not my first choice, not that I didn’t like his message, just that he lacked political experience; but the Primary changed that, he became the Face of the GOP and I proudly voted for him. And will again in 2020 if he runs again, or Pence if he decides not to. Would love to have 16 yrs of GOP control of all 3 Branches. And the USSC turn Conservative by 6 or 7 at least for the next 30 yrs.

This is funny. The poll that has never been wrong comes down to just asking "who do you think will win?". Wow, that's clever. no wonder none of the other pollsters have thought of that.

“I’m accepting a house loss. As long as the senate is under control it doesn’t matter.”

Although I don’t agree, I will say that if you could only have one or the other, having the Senate is much more desirable because of its role in approving the appointment of judges and Supreme Court justices.

I - honestly speaking - have never once seen one of these "Never Trumper"

Well you may have heard of Paul Ryan or Jeff Flake and numerous others.

Why would you vote for Pence if he decides not to run? {:-)

How is this poll casting doubt on the GOP when it predicts a GOP victory?

Apparently you are looking at another poll. I am speaking of the one that provides the headline saying it will be a GOP victory.

“The odds are slim...”

How do you know - because the experts and pundits say it? The odds are that Americans are way smarter than that. I think they hold both Chambers, and I’ve said that all along

That’s 100% true!

They haven’t considered the republicans who doubted trump but now are on board.

I hope you’re right, but there was also group of conservatives who voted for Trump but not the rinos further down the ticket.

I was one of them in PA, and Toomey barely squeaked by.

You don’t remember the exodus of NeverTrump Freepers who left the forum during the 2016 primary?

As I recall, the greatest number left after Trump won the nomination. Jim Robinson posted a thread to either get behind our candidate, or get lost.

Many took his advice, thankfully.

Maybe they’ve seen the light and returned.

But I don’t think many of them understood how important those down ticket were. Trump has really stressed it. Plus kavanaugh.

It’s true, but in PA we kind of got the best of both worlds. downticketers got elected, but by a smaller margin than Trump. The message was sent.

Now that a few rinos have been primaried, I agree downticketers are critical, and was happy to vote straight ticket this time around.

That's excellent, but what does she think of President Trump?
