Bill Mitchell: "Collins might never have voted for Kavanaugh and given her epic speech without an FBI investigation. The FBI investigation might never have happened unless Flake demanded it. Who did Flake talk to right before demanding it?

Rosenstein.

Not everything is as it appears."

I hate being a cynic but I do suspect a deal was made. Rosenweasel gets survives and the FBI provides a fast and honest report that saves Kavenaugh. If RR is still there after the midterms I go beyond suspicions.

Rosenstein has no authority to order anything re: Kavanaugh

Really, we need more info.

I hold Collins, Murkowski and Flake personally responsible for the hellish theater that Kavanaugh and his family were put through. If there were anything to the allegations, and they were still relevant, they could have been handled by Maryland law enforcement.

Sometimes the other side actually makes mistakes. They thought that by coercing Flake to call for the investigation it would give them cover for another week of Kavanaugh smear and intimidation, which they thought would push them over the top. They overplayed their hand, were called, and had to fold.

the problem is that flake legitimized the “investigate until we find something to investigate. then disqualify the candidate on the basis of the investigation into anything”.

FBI investigation ended up being a blessing in disguise.

Suggesting not everything is as it appears is contrary to the group to no that has become the new FR norm.

Who cares?

Something has been up since Whitewater and cattle futures. Nothing ever comes of it.

I wouldn’t trust Flake or rosenweasel on anything.

As a long-time AZ Citizen Resident and dependable voter, I second that on Flake. As for rosenweasel - I don't trust anyone buried within the deep state headquartered in the cesspool we call DC

I think we forget that there is a lot going on behind the scenes that we are not aware of but would make sense once we thought about it.

I’m in IT and a common practice is to “bench test” logic before I write a line of code. It always finds errors. And the same is true here. I have little doubt they “bench tested” scenarios and discovered that the best STRATEGIC move was to do the final FBI investigation, even if everyone knew what it would find.

The reason is simple: The voters are not all into this stuff all that much and all they hear is “Republicans are trying to push through a rapist and they won’t let the FBI investigate.” That would have swayed enough voters away. So they bench tested letting the hearings drag out for a few more days as a tactical move that pissed off the rabid base (us) to give the appearance of bending over backwards. And this really helped in that if called the left’s bluff.

It was a smart move that both got Kavanaugh in and made democrats look worse. It’s not a conspiracy thing. It’s an intelligence thing. Smart people were making smart decisions.

The Dems are gonna need a new playbook, cause the one they are using now is out of date.....”

I remember that Anita Hill was told not to worry about having to testify, that the Democrats were certain Clarence Thomas would withdraw as soon as he heard about her charges.

It was obvious that the Democrats were hell-bent on getting Kavanaugh to withdraw as well. They knew he had the votes to be confirmed, so their only hope of keeping him off the court and delaying this until after the midterms was to so overwhelm him with scurrilous charges, threats to his family, endless delays and loud protests that he would give up.

What the Democrats need is new leadership and old values.

I doubt that DJT would talk to Rosenstein on AF1 if he were about to can him.

AF1 - also one of most secure places on earth to speak to someone privately...

There was no one to investigate because there were no witnesses. All who were named as witnesses stated emphatically, under penalty of perjury, that they never witnessed what was alleged. The star witness, her friend, said she didn't even know Kavenaugh nor did she remember the party.

I'm surprised it took more than a day.

The deepest, most intense background check can not guard against fake charges. They can start checking back to kindergarten and they won’t find stuff that does not exist.

Unlike a lot of people I don’t believe Ford. I was willing to give her the benefit of the doubt before she testified, I thought she might be mistaken about who attacked her. Because it was a recovered memory that might have happened, but when she testified I got the strong impression that this was NOT real at all.

Agree. ROD ROS did travel with PDJT on Air Force 1 this week. That in itself leaves much room for speculation.

Flake just azked him how long it would take. Could they do it in a week, if the senate asked for limited scope.

Rosenstein didn’t screw Trump, this time. He’s already on borrowed time. One non-sabotage incident is meaningless. Dude is voing to be fired in a month, along with Sessions.

The way the Senate came through, under Mitch, is telling for next month. Mitch has already indicated he will push through a replacement AG. Just waiting till after the midterms.

Buh-bye Rosensessions!!! Tic friken toc.
