Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh came out swinging in his opening remarks, defending himself against the sexual assault allegations levied by Palo Alto University professor Christine Blasey Ford and launching partisan attacks against Senate Democrats, who he called an “embarrassment” and warned, “what goes around, comes around.”
“You’ve tried hard, given it your all, no one can question your effort,” Kavanaugh said, referring to Democrats. “But your coordinated and well-funded effort to destroy my good name and destroy my family will not drive me out.”
Kavanaugh’s defiant statement — which he read large pieces of through tears — is different from the opening remarks he had submitted to the Senate Judiciary Committee and that were released on Wednesday, a day before the hearing.
The new remarks, which Kavanaugh said were not reviewed by anyone before he delivered them other than a former law clerk, were much more combative and partisan. In them he posits that the allegations against him were, “revenge on behalf of the Clintons.”
Ultimately, Kavanaugh vehemently denied Ford’s accusations on Thursday afternoon. Earlier in the day, Ford said that she is “100%” sure Kavanaugh was the boy who sexually assaulted her when they were teenagers in the early 1980s.
“I’ve never sexually assaulted anyone, not in high school, not in college, not ever,” Kavanaugh said Thursday.
The remarks suggest Kavanaugh has no intention of withdrawing his nomination. The partisan tone he struck is both a much different image than the fair arbiter he initially portrayed himself as in his confirmation hearing, which could create more problems for Republicans to confirm him.
Senators will now have the chance to ask Kavanaugh questions.

He also slam-dunked Feinstein during her questions. I noticed she conceded her time in short order, and didn’t request an extension of time.
The rest of the dems had better tread lightly.
And, I have NO idea where that “prosecutor” is headed.
Kavanaugh is toast.
The Dems were smugly satisfied after Ford’s testimony. I think they were taken aback by the emotion and ferocity of Kavanaugh’s rebuttal.
When Political Slut Whore feinstein asked why he wouldn’t want an FBI investigation, he could have asked why she didn’t request one TWO MONTHS AGO when she first got the letter.
I was surprised he didn’t ask the POS DiFi why she didn’t bring up the letter when he met her in person.
In what way is he toast? Was it really that bad?
Tell some of these Freeper “Macho” Men that Kavanaugh crying is not a sign of weakness. I think his strong statement sealed his confirmation and put a fork into the “Blue Wave”!

Garbage. “Fair arbiter”? He stands accused and is left alone to defend himself. And in this case, he’s just pointing out the obvious that the author would like to pretend to ignore.
I’ve been hearing that it’ll be a thousand times worse when RBG goes.

Do not forget, that even if he is not elevated to the SCOTUS, he’s still a judge on the DC 1st Circuit, where all the BIG cases are filed. They don’t want to really anger this guy too much because he will be hearing their cases in the future regardless of the outcome..................
