McConnell: Democrats waited until 11th hour
CNN ^ | September 18, 2018 | David Axelrod

the nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh. The cause of McConnell's ire was the late-breaking allegation from Christine Blasey Ford, a research psychologist, that Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her when they were teenagers, a charge that threatens to upend a confirmation which seemed assured just days ago. McConnell, who is determined to deliver his second conservative Supreme Court justice in two years, now must navigate a treacherous pass. On the one hand, the steely Republican leader is determined to act as quickly to confirm Kavanaugh as he was to delay and destroy Garland's nomination. McConnell knows that, even with one of the most favorable Senate maps any party ever has enjoyed, the antics of President Donald Trump have helped put the GOP's narrow, two-vote margin in jeopardy. He does not want to risk allowing the Senate vote to lapse until after an election Republicans may lose.

I don’t think there are many Republican women who would be alienated by this. This is nonsense and women see through this. Liberal women who don’t want a strict constitutionalist Judge on the S/C will pretend to be alienated, but so what? They are not going to vote Republican anyway.

Career politicians do not worry about spine. Only one thing they MUST worry about...to never annoy their mega donors, without whom they can not stay in power.

Item #2 is paramount. If Trump fails in making those declassified docs public, the republic is pretty much finished. If item #1 fails, Trump can nominate even a stronger conservative.

Why I believe your scenario much more than Christine’s description in her letter !

Thank you for posting that link. I read the letter, and it is totally not plausible.

First, why was Christine at a party with only a few drunken boys? There is no mention of other girls present. Girls in 1980’s seldom went alone to a party.
Then, if the door was locked, how was she able to get out of the room so fast? If those 2 boys really wanted to rape, they could have stopped her from escaping the small room in a flash. Conclusion:door was not locked.
Also, how did she read their mind so accurately about raping her? She was only 15 years old. Her clothes were never removed or ripped per her letter.
If one feels in danger of getting killed, one will usually tell their mom, at age 15.

Valid point. All polls said Hillary would win. But why would any Hillary nominee be any better than Garland?

I did not post this thread for sake of Axelrod.

Understood. I was not criticizing your posting of it.

Exactly right ! It’s very disappointing to read that our brothers will sit home if the rinos do rino stuff. This is exactly the point of the demonic strategy. Have us give up, sit home and, by default, vote for our own destruction. IMO we have one chance only and that is to crawl over broken glass dragging friends and family along to vote for WHATEVER republican is on the ballot so that Trump can keep and increase his majority in order to further his success SO THAT we can continue to improve the mix next primary season AND continue to put conservative judges on the bench at every level. When we lose its because we stay home. When we vote we win. Its not up to the democrats or the media (sorry for the redundancy). Its only up to us. WHEN WE VOTE WE WIN. Notwithstanding how things look due to media distortion, there are actually more of us than there are of them.

*******************

As much as it pains me to say this, Rosenstein and company are, right now, successfully defying a presidential order. So, at this moment in time they effectively in control. They are stonewalling and prohibiting the release of information DEMANDED by the president, without any consequence as of yet.

As I said, this is a defining moment. I totally agree with you that if Trump fails to remove this seditious cabal then he and we are all in deep trouble. He must immediately assert himself or lose his authority and accept the fact that his subordinates can withhold vital information from him and ignore his direction.

This cannot stand. Its time for Trump to act decisively and take swift corrective -- and punative -- action. The captain needs to stop this mutiny.

I would think they would pull from the same think tank list.

Wasn’t Garland the pick, or am I mixing things up

Hillary probably would have picked the same guy.

He should kick Feinstein off the Committee for withholding the information from the Committee for three Months.

In fact, she should be Censured for her actions.

That is why I don’t think McConnell held up Garland based on Hillary win. He used the excuse of precedence because some republican nominee was held up due to presidential election coming up, as well.

Grassley is unlikely to do that. Did you see how much time he gave to democrat senators on committee to speak? He figures that would actually save time because of arguments back and forth. I have to assume he knows more than me how the committee works.
