Fishy? Smelt like the outhouse door on a tuna boat.
I worked on a tuna (albacore) boat. We were lucky, we had a real head. Other boats didn’t. You kind of had to hang out over the sideone hand holding onto the boat and the other onto the paper. If the captain was nice, he’d turn the boat so you were going ‘down the hill’, i.e. with the waves at the sterna smooth ride. If he was a jerk, he’d keep going ‘up the hill’, into the waves. Ah the memories your line brought back!
