Couple that with the current “ flag on every other play”
Yep that is annoying, and hurts the flow of the game.
I also think they have more commercials than they did years ago. They go to a commercial bloc after a scoring play, then back for the kickoff, then go to another commercial bloc.
An NFL game nowadays takes 3 1/2 hours to play. Years ago, most NFL games took a bit under three hours. They are hurting viewership with stretching out the game they way they do, to accomodate TV.
The NFL I remember was the one in which a defensive lineman could pick up Terry Bradshaw, pile-drive him head first into a dirt field, and he’d get up and call the next play.
Not this over-over-over emphasis on making the game safe.
It’s never going to be.
