Looks like a claw version of your basic warehouse forklift, most of which are enclosed for safety. People shouldn’t try so hard to make everything evil.
In the US, nobody is forced to do that job - they may choose to if the pay is enough. But illegals may “do the job Americans won’t”.
The solution is to eliminate illegals and let Amazon do something else or pay Americans enough to make it worth it. I’ll go in a cage if you pay me enough.

No, they got it backward, you’re supposed to stand outside the cage, operate the joystick, use the claw to try to snatch the toy inside. And lose all your quarters in the process.

This should have been invented 100 years ago. I’ve seen videos of workers getting sucked into revolving machine parts in factories. Usually a loose tie or arm sleeve gets caught and pulls them in. So, there won’t be any gruesome videos coming out of Amazon factories.
Hard guarding has typically been used in robotic workcells for safety reasons to keep humans safe.
Slightly modified personal lift unit you can see in any home depot. They put the cage on because for what they pay... They get people too stupid to put on a harness and not fall out of the basket.
