Depends on your personal basket of goods.

If you are trying to earn to pay your upcoming tuition, then, totally, you’ll need Bigly more buck$/wk to be equivalent to the good ole daze.

My neighbors Mexican crew will, sometimes, throw their empty drink cups in my yard. It’s quite annoying.

I’ve long believed that a major cause of poverty is the inability to resist instant gratification.

So what?

Are they in Pittsburg?

If not, then your post is irrelevant to this discussion

Well, it seems like perhaps it needs to be $100,000 in contracts to pay enough for the work to get done.

Exactly, there are plenty of immigrants here already that could fill these jobs but they are getting welfare instead. Obviously, not all immigrants don’t want to work.

Sounds like my kind of place :)

I was in a bar in Missoula, MT once very similar to this place. Ladies dancing out front, five card stud in the back room. I think they also had private rooms for the other kind of “poker”.

The fact is we need “seasonal labor” in this country. On the east coast we have Jamaican’s that pick fruit. They start in Florida and work their way north throughout the growing season. They end up in New England in the fall picking apples and pumpkins.

The article is really about the effect that low unemployment rates(ie good economy) has on seasonal labor. The better the economy the better the choice in jobs. The crummy jobs people do not want to do. Being a landscaper is a crummy job.

I have 6 that live across the street from me in two families. Actulaly there is only one left at home. the others have left the nest, 4 this year.

All 6 are employed. The oldest is about 25 or 26 and he is serving in the Navy. I have followed them since they were young kids. Only one of the girls graduated from college. The other girl was in school but think she got married and left school. She was doing pretty well with no degree.

today you would have to charge $150 for a small lawn to put yourself through college.
It was in the 80’s and it was Community College...but still.
